Video-Poker is simply a blend of 2 popular forms of wagering: the slots using the poker game. Winning a game of Electronic Poker involves a combination of player skill with good luck, making it a favorite with players. The game of poker is believed to have originated back in Eighteen Thirty, where it is recorded as having been enjoyed by French newcomers residing in New Orleans. Electronic-Poker uses a version of the game named 5card draw poker. Meanwhile, the coin-operated card device (better-known affectionately as a "slot") was originally invented in the late 1800’s, with poker machines showing up in San Francisco in Eighteen Ninety. These machines were incredibly basic by today’s standards, using real cards rather than icons.

The machines declined in interest throughout the very first half of the 20th century. Economic issues mixed with the limited technologies of the machines themselves meant that individuals just weren’t interested in playing anymore. A very simple electronic digital poker machine was released in 1964 but achieved only reasonable results.

It wasn’t until the mid-1970s that the Electronic-Poker machines as we know it today became obtainable. Breakthroughs in technology meant that a computer chip (CPU) could be installed inside the machines to give them a "brain", while a video screen transmitted the action to the player.

Meanwhile, gambling house operators searched for new high-profit games, and the blend of a slot machine using the a lot more traditional game of five-card draw poker proved to be a winning blend of the old and new. The first Electronic Poker equipment was built in 1976 by Bally Manufacturing. It was black and white only, but a color version was developed just 8 months later, by the Fortune Coin Company. Over the next handful of years, computer chips started to be less costly to produce, and a lot more casinos introduced Electronic Poker machines as they started to be more financially viable. A version labeled Draw Poker was released in ‘79 by a corporation now referred to as IGT, and it achieved unheralded success.

Electronic-Poker really took off from the early 1980s where it started to be well-known in gambling establishments across Las Vegas. Players found themselves much less anxious by a unit than they were when seated at a table with others. The recognition of the game has steadily increased throughout the last quarter-century and it can now be found in the majority of gambling houses throughout the world, as well as in bars and on the Internet.
